The Siberian Siberians are originally from the Siberian region of Russian and first came to the United States in 1990. They are loved for their soft medium to long length coat, rounded facial features, sweet and gentle personalities, quiet nature, and hypoallergenic qualities. With all these qualities in these beautiful cats, it's no wonder they have rapidly grown in popularity! Gentle Nature The Siberian has a calm nature that gives the potential to be a wonderful therapy cat as noise and activity do not bother them. They are happy to snuggle and love attention, but they are not needy and will wait patiently for you to devote time to them. They are the most wonderful and patient cat I have seen with children. My daughter Juliette can attest to that! They will follow her around the house and curl up next to her on the couch....always enjoying companionship! Characteristics The Siberian is notable for having a long triple coat with an outer, middle and undercoat. The undercoat will thicken in cold weather. The coat comes in many colors and combinations of colors, with or without white. The Siberian is a medium to large size cat that weighs 8 to 17 pounds or more, though they may take as long as five years to reach full size and coat. They are well muscled with a intent gaze and loving expression. Eye color varies from copper and gold to green, and blue or odd colored eyes are not uncommon for Siberian that are white or have white patches.
